SpaceX Set to Launch 22 More Starlink Satellites from California
In an effort to expand its internet coverage worldwide, SpaceX is preparing to launch 22 additional Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The launch is scheduled to take place on Monday morning, during a four-hour window that opens at 1:33 a.m. EST.
Space enthusiasts and curious onlookers can witness the launch live through SpaceX’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter. The company has been actively promoting live streams of their launches, allowing viewers to get an up-close look at the remarkable event.
The mission will utilize SpaceX’s tried and tested Falcon 9 rocket. Following liftoff, the first stage of the rocket is expected to return to Earth for a vertical landing on the drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You.” This marks an impressive milestone, as it will be the 15th successful launch and landing for the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket.
Approximately 62.5 minutes after liftoff, the 22 Starlink satellites will be deployed into low Earth orbit. These satellites will join the existing constellation of Starlink satellites, ultimately working towards SpaceX’s goal of providing high-speed internet access to even the most remote corners of the globe.
This launch comes hot on the heels of another successful Starlink mission only a few days ago. On Friday night, SpaceX launched an additional 23 Starlink satellites from Florida, further bolstering their existing fleet. The continuous launches demonstrate the company’s commitment to rapidly expanding its network and improving its global connectivity reach.
However, not all was smooth sailing for SpaceX over the weekend. On Saturday, the company conducted the second-ever test flight of its Starship prototype, which unfortunately ended in an explosion upon landing. Nonetheless, SpaceX remains undeterred and continues to forge ahead with its ambitious plans.
Originally scheduled for Sunday, the Monday morning launch was delayed due to propellant loading issues. The company exercised caution and decided to postpone the launch until the technical glitches were resolved. As safety is a top priority for SpaceX, this decision reflects their commitment to ensuring a flawless mission.
With each successful launch, SpaceX inches closer to its mission of revolutionizing global internet coverage. As the world watches with anticipation, the launch of 22 more Starlink satellites from California on Monday is set to further solidify SpaceX’s position as a leading provider of satellite internet services.
