During this time, Ukrainian troops utilized the opportunity to incorporate Western-supplied weapons and adopt new battlefield tactics, moving away from Soviet doctrine. Yet, while gains have been made in some areas, Ukrainian forces continue to encounter intense resistance from heavy Russian fortifications in others.

To make matters worse, Ukrainian forces must manually clear minefields, a dangerous and time-consuming task.
While Ukrainian troops received training in NATO-style tactics, scaling up combined arms operations remains a challenge. Experts emphasize the contrasting size and scale of Russia’s operations compared to Ukraine’s, underscoring the uphill battle Ukraine faces.
As the conflict continues, Ukraine must strategize and adapt its approach to overcome the formidable obstacles posed by Russia’s defenses. International support and assistance will play a crucial role in providing Ukraine with the necessary resources to effectively combat the Russian forces and regain control over its territory.
