SpaceX’s Crew-8 Mission to Relocate Dragon Capsule at International Space Station
In a groundbreaking maneuver, astronauts aboard SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission will be moving their Dragon capsule, named Endeavour, to a different port at the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday morning. The Dragon will undock from the forward-facing port of the station’s Harmony module and autonomously dock with Harmony’s space-facing port.
This strategic relocation will open up Harmony’s forward-facing port for Boeing’s Starliner capsule, which is scheduled to launch on its first-ever crewed mission. The upcoming Starliner mission, Crew Flight Test, will send NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the ISS for a 10-day stay.
SpaceX’s Crew-8 mission, which launched on March 3, includes crewmates who will live aboard the station for six months. Thursday’s port relocation will mark a historic moment, as it will be the fourth time a crewed Dragon capsule has been moved at the ISS during previous missions.
The relocation of the Dragon capsule signifies the continued collaboration and progress in space exploration between SpaceX and NASA. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development at The Puck Drop.
