Beloved TV Shows Celebrated with Cast Reunions at 2023 Emmys
The 75th anniversary of the Primetime Emmy Awards was a night filled with nostalgia as cast members from some of the most notable television shows came together to present awards and celebrate their shared experiences. The star-studded event featured cast reunions from shows like Ally McBeal, Grey’s Anatomy, Cheers, Martin, and The Sopranos.
One of the highlights of the evening was the reunion of the Ally McBeal cast. Stars Calista Flockhart, Greg Germann, Peter MacNicol, and Gil Bellows took the stage and delighted fans with a memorable reunion dance to Barry White’s “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything.” The chemistry between the cast members was evident as they reminisced about their time on the show.
Grey’s Anatomy fans were also treated to a reunion of their beloved cast. Ellen Pompeo, James Pickens Jr., Chandra Wilson, Katherine Heigl, and Justin Chambers expressed their gratitude for the show’s dedicated fan base. The cast members shared heartfelt moments and reflected on the impact the show has had over the years.
The Martin cast gathered on a re-created set and shared their excitement, despite the show never being nominated for an Emmy during its run. The Cheers stars, including Ted Danson, Rhea Perlman, Kelsey Grammer, John Ratzenberger, and George Wendt, gathered at a version of the show’s iconic bar and shared fond memories of their time on the hit series.
Comedic powerhouses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took center stage at a set based on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” desk. The duo presented an award and entertained the audience with their wit and humor. Natasha Lyonne and Tracee Ellis Ross paid tribute to the classic I Love Lucy episode “Job Switching” by recreating scenes from the memorable episode.
Other cast reunions included shows like The Sopranos, Two and a Half Men, Community, Ted Lasso, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Mad Men, and The Arsenio Hall Show. The ceremony also featured a special tribute to producer Norman Lear by All in the Family’s Rob Reiner and Sally Struthers.
Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones, stood next to a version of the show’s iconic Iron Throne to present the best drama prize to Succession. However, not all cast members were able to attend the ceremony. Connie Britton, due to a snowstorm, was unable to make it as she had to travel back to New York for production on Zero Day.
