Alameda County Health Officials Issue Measles Warning After Exposure at Sons of Liberty Alehouse
Alameda County health officials have issued a warning after a possible measles exposure at Sons of Liberty Alehouse in San Leandro. The exposure occurred on March 9 from 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Those at risk include infants 11 months or younger, unvaccinated individuals, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals, healthcare workers, and childcare providers.
Measles symptoms can appear within seven to 21 days and include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash. The disease is highly contagious and can be transmitted through direct contact with infectious droplets or by airborne spread. One person infected with measles can infect nine out of 10 unvaccinated individuals in close contact.
