Attention Walmart shoppers! If you purchased certain weighted groceries at Walmart between October 2018 and January 2024, you could be entitled to a cash payment from a class action settlement.
The class action lawsuit alleges that customers who bought specific sold-by-weight meat, seafood, and bulk bagged citrus at Walmart may have overpaid compared to the lowest advertised price. Despite denying any wrongdoing, Walmart has agreed to pay $45 million to settle the litigation.
Consumers are able to submit claims for cash payments, even without a purchase receipt. Eligible products include select oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and certain meat and seafood items purchased at Walmart locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
The amount of payment for approved claims will vary depending on the number of eligible products purchased and whether the consumer can provide proof of purchase. Claimants have the option to receive payments electronically through Venmo, Zelle, ACH, or a virtual pre-paid MasterCard, with the choice of requesting a paper check for those unable to receive electronic payments.
For more information on how to submit a claim and to see a list of products covered in the settlement, consumers can visit the settlement administrator’s website. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to potentially receive some extra cash for groceries you purchased at Walmart.
