Capcom’s highly anticipated release of Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been met with both excitement and controversy. The game, available on PC and consoles, received high critical acclaim upon its launch. However, players on the Steam platform were quick to voice their dissatisfaction with the sudden appearance of microtransactions in the game.
Steam users review-bombed Dragon’s Dogma 2, causing its rating to plummet to “Mostly Negative” based on over 11,000 reviews. The main point of contention for players was the 21 DLC items available for purchase, ranging from 89 pence to £4.45. These DLC items include important in-game resources such as Wakestones, Rift Crystals, Port Crystal, and even a character editor.
While Capcom insists that many of these DLC items can also be obtained through gameplay without spending real-world money, players are upset about the lack of communication and potential additional costs after purchasing the base game. Performance issues on the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 have only added fuel to the fire, with players experiencing crashes, freezes, and frame rate problems.
In response to the backlash, Capcom has issued an apology for the inconvenience and is actively working to address the performance issues. They are specifically looking into reducing CPU usage for character calculations in order to improve overall gameplay experience. Despite the initial negative feedback, Capcom is committed to listening to player concerns and making necessary improvements to ensure a positive gaming experience for all Dragon’s Dogma 2 players.
