Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is taking his experience of a life-threatening on-field incident and turning it into an opportunity to promote CPR and AED training. Through his Chasing M’s CPR Tour, Hamlin aims to educate people on the importance of knowing how to act in an emergency situation and to distribute free boxed AEDs.
In January, Hamlin collapsed on the field after a hard hit to the chest. Thanks to the quick response and expertise of medical personnel, he was kept alive and eventually made a full recovery. Now, Hamlin is determined to raise awareness about the life-saving techniques that helped him through this ordeal.
Having already visited Pittsburgh and Buffalo as part of his tour, Hamlin has now added Cincinnati as his third location. Speaking at a press conference held in his former college town, Hamlin emphasized the significance of CPR and AED training. He shared his personal story, highlighting how the knowledge and actions of those around him saved his life.
In addition to his advocacy efforts, Hamlin is generously distributing free boxed AEDs to organizations and individuals. These devices are crucial in ensuring a rapid response during cardiac emergencies. By providing AEDs, Hamlin hopes to empower others to be prepared for life-threatening situations and make a difference in their communities.
During his visit to Cincinnati, Hamlin expressed his gratitude to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for their exceptional care and support during his recovery. Their expertise played a vital role in his return to peak physical condition, enabling him to make his recent announcement of returning to the field for the 2023 season.
Hamlin’s Chasing M’s CPR Tour serves as a reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness and the role individuals can play in saving lives. Through his tireless efforts, Hamlin is making a significant impact on the communities he visits, inspiring countless individuals to learn CPR, familiarize themselves with AEDs, and potentially make a life-saving difference in the future.
