Shohei Ohtani Goes Hitless for Second Straight Game as Dodgers Fall to Angels 6-0
In a preseason exhibition game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels, Shohei Ohtani went hitless for the second consecutive game as the Dodgers were defeated 6-0 at Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani, who went 0-for-2 in the game, grounded out twice and drew a walk against his former team. Before the game, the 29-year-old made his first public statement since allegations surfaced against his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara.
Ohtani denied any involvement in sports betting or having any dealings with a bookie, pointing the blame at Mizuhara for allegedly stealing money from his account. He emphasized that he has never participated in any form of sports betting, including baseball.
Both the Internal Revenue Service and Major League Baseball are currently conducting investigations to determine if any league rules related to gambling have been violated. This comes after Ohtani signed a massive 10-year, $700 million deal with the Dodgers this offseason, following his back-to-back American League MVP awards as both a pitcher and designated hitter with the Angels.
The Dodgers and the Angels are set to conclude their three-game exhibition series on Tuesday, with fans eagerly anticipating Ohtani’s next performance on the field. Stay tuned for more updates on ‘The Puck Drop’ for the latest developments in this ongoing story.
