SpaceX is gearing up for another exciting launch tonight from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The aerospace company is scheduled to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from pad 39A at 7:57 p.m. EDT as part of the Starlink 6-42 mission.
However, the launch has a 20% chance of being delayed due to the windy and rain-soaked forecast. If the weather does not cooperate, backup opportunities are available until 11:55 p.m.
The Falcon 9 will be carrying 23 broadband satellites into low-Earth orbit. This mission will not produce any local sonic booms, so residents in the area can rest easy.
Following liftoff, SpaceX will attempt to land the rocket’s first-stage booster aboard a drone ship in the sea about 8½ minutes later. Live updates on the launch will be provided by the FLORIDA TODAY Space Team starting approximately 90 minutes before the scheduled launch time.
Viewers can also tune in to SpaceX’s live webcast, which will be posted below the countdown clock five minutes before liftoff. For those interested in more space news and launch schedules, visit floridatoday.com/space.
