Retired UFC Fighter Mark Coleman in Induced Coma After Heroic Act
Former UFC fighter Mark Coleman is fighting for his life after a heroic act of rescuing his parents from a house fire in Toledo, Ohio. The 56-year-old legend, who was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008, is currently in an induced coma in intensive care.
The fire broke out in the kitchen of Coleman’s family home, where he was staying with his parents. He was awakened by his dog, Hammer, barking and managed to pull his parents out of the burning building. Despite suffering from smoke inhalation, Coleman went back in to try to rescue his beloved pet but tragically was unsuccessful. The roof collapsed as the first firefighters arrived on the scene.
Coleman was airlifted to the hospital, while his parents miraculously escaped serious injuries. The MMA star’s daughter, Morgan Coleman, took to Instagram to ask for prayers for her father, stating that he was “fighting for his life.”
The family has been overwhelmed by the support and prayers pouring in from fans and well-wishers. Coleman’s mother expressed her gratitude on Facebook for all those who helped and prayed for her son during this difficult time.
The photos of the home after the fire show it nearly burned to the ground, a stark reminder of the devastating incident. Coleman, known for his career in the UFC and Pride Fighting Championships, has had a lasting impact on the sport of mixed martial arts.
Before his MMA career, Coleman was an NCAA champion wrestler and even competed in the 1992 Olympics. He also had stints in scripted professional wrestling, showcasing his versatile talents and passion for combat sports.
