NVIDIA Discontinues Sales of GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti
In a surprising move, NVIDIA has announced the official discontinuation of its highly-anticipated graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti. The decision comes as a result of the lack of interest from gamers in the RTX 4080, prompting the company to make some changes to its lineup.
Replacing the RTX 4080 is its successor, the RTX 4080 SUPER. This new model boasts improved speed and a lower price, making it a more attractive option for gamers. Meanwhile, the RTX 4070 Ti will be discontinued but will maintain its current pricing. However, gamers can still expect some benefits from the increased cores and memory in this card.
Notably, the RTX 4070 Ti will go down in history as one of the shortest-lived models in the GeForce lineup. Its successor, the RTX 4080 12GB, essentially takes its place but with a new name and a reduced price of $100.
This decision by NVIDIA comes after weeks of speculation and rumors, and the company has now officially confirmed the end of life status for both models. The slow sales and insufficient supply of new graphics cards in the market have contributed to this move. It seems that gamers were not as interested in the RTX 4080 as initially expected.
Retailers will now be tasked with clearing their remaining stock of RTX 4080 cards, with expectations to do so by late January. Meanwhile, the RTX 4070 Ti may face even tougher competition from the upcoming Radeon RX 7900 series, posing additional challenges for NVIDIA in the high-end gaming graphics card market.
As the gaming community eagerly awaits the release of new graphics cards, NVIDIA’s decision to discontinue these models is sure to make waves. Gamers will now shift their attention to the RTX 4080 SUPER and keep a close eye on the competition between NVIDIA and AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series.
